It wasn't such a grand opening. After enjoying the profile of a Board Director at Conran Design Group, Tony Rowe launched Rowe Associates from a small warehouse studio in Covent Garden. So, what possessed Tony to leave his steady job and steady pay packet?
“I had always wanted to start my own business. The freedom, not only from
a boss and an imposed regime, but also the freedom of creativity without
establishment set guidelines. The freedom to take a company in the direction I chose”.
From the beginning, Tony concentrated on Product Development, Packaging
and Communications.
“I knew where my strengths were, so that’s where I concentrated my efforts. The biggest challenge was securing new business, as it always has and always will be. That’s really the biggest worry when you start a new business”
“My heart will always be in the creative and productive side of design”, says the RCA educated Partner, “and I knew that just managing and marketing the process would not be sufficient for me”
A combination of luck and sheer hard work meant that Tony’s efforts paid off. Within a couple of years, Rowe Associates had become recognizable in the design world. Rowe Associates now operates out of a redeveloped chapel in southwest London, as a full multi-disciplinary agency.
“We are pleased to say that we are bounding into this new decade with as much fervor and passion as we had as a start up. We have a lot of exciting projects under way, and we are
constantly evolving”.
“In 20 years we have worked with some of the most exciting clients a design company could hope to work for. From Nintendo to BMW, Rowenta to Tomy, and we've enjoyed every second of it”
